Our Medical Weight Loss Program

If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is under 35, you qualify for our non-surgical medical weight loss program.

Stages of overweight are medically defined by BMI. An individual with a BMI of 25 – 29.9 is clinically classified as overweight. An individual with a BMI of 30 or more is classified as obese. Overweight and obese individuals are at risk for developing health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, certain types of cancer, gout, and gallbladder disease. Being overweight can also cause problems such as sleep apnea (interruped breathing during sleep) and osteoarthritis (wearing away of the joint cartilage). Weight loss can help improve the harmful effects of being overweight and help prevent or eliminate these health conditions.

Many overweight and obese individuals with a BMI under 35 have difficulty reaching their “ideal” body weight. Since individuals in this classification are not eligible for weight loss surgery, the most beneficial approach to losing excess body weight is through diet and exercise--key components of St. John's medical weight loss program.  Our medically-supervised program also includes personalized exercise training, nutrition counseling, lifestyle education and lifelong support.
